In some instances the book may point to cleaning by hand as a time savings 鈥 and in some cases that鈥檚 advice worth heeding 鈥 but not every decision is made based entirely on direct time savings.鈥淗opefully your time isn鈥檛 that tight,鈥 says Cappel. 鈥淚 mean, our bids aren鈥檛 based on one and a half minutes per fixture and if it鈥檚 two minutes we鈥檙e losing money.鈥漌hen comparing the cleaning times of a restroom machine to cleaning by hand or with a wet mop, the results depend on myriad factors, including the number of fixtures, the age and gender of the restroom鈥檚 patrons, and the person performing the cleaning.鈥淭hese sometimes are seen as an exact measure, and they鈥檙e not,鈥 says Walker. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e the best average estimate based on all of the available data that we鈥檝e received.鈥
